Contract Period: 10 Months
Reports to: Director of Early Childhood and Auxiliary Programs
Job Summary: The Early Childhood Center Assistant Teacher will support and maintain a safe,
caring, and engaging environment, which encourages positive spiritual, social, emotional,
physical, and intellectual development of children and adheres to the Tennessee Department of
Education rules, regulations, and training requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support school policies, the Dominican Pillars of Prayer, Study, Service, and
Community, and the teachings of the Catholic Church in word and actions.
• Contribute to the school community by attending school events and maintaining
relationships with the faculty and staff of SAA-SDS.
• Engage in professional learning and growth, department meetings, and other
opportunities of professional development and growth.
• Support a highly engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum and lessons set
forth by the lead teacher.
• Build strong, lasting relationships with students, inspiring a love for learning and
fostering the development of positive, productive members of society.
• Uphold classroom expectations that support the whole child and develop lifelong
learners.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to help maintain close relationships with families.
An Ideal Candidate would possess the following qualifications:
● Flexibility, energy, creativity, high expectations, a sense of humor and the highest standards of integrity.
● At least three years of childcare experience in a preschool setting.
● Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and willing to diaper and toilet train.
