POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: KITCHEN COORDINATOR
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non- Exempt Full - Time
DEPARTMENT: Catholic Social Services, Women of Hope- Lombard
Housing & Homeless Services Division
REPORTS TO: Direction from Program Director
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The primary responsibility of the Life Skills Coordinator is to oversee total operation of the kitchen and Mercy Café 'Day Program. Ensure all residents receive proper nutritional meals. Certify services are delivered in accordance with city regulations and DBHD requirements.
PRNCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare menus in accordance with Daily Food Guidelines.
- Purchase food and adheres to monthly food budget.
- Responsible for the oversight and management of the Mercy Café' Day Program.
- Responsible for monitoring the daily cleanliness of the kitchen, dining room, pantry, pot room.
- Provides training for new staff with reference to kitchen duties.
- Responsible for the Shower Program.
- Share On-Call duties and coverage of shifts as needed.
- Assist in any assignment deemed necessary by Program Supervisor or Director.
- Meet weekly with Program Director.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings, weekly supervision, training, and meetings required by both CSS and funders.
- Prepare nutritious meals, for Day Guest and residents when necessary.
- Take on tasks and duties as assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to live, implement and communicate the values and mission of the agency.
- Requires minimum High School Diploma / GED.
- Comfort in working with women who have a history of homelessness and/or mental illness (including drug and alcohol addiction).
- Communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in kitchen coordination and supervision preferred.
- Current Safe Food Handling certification and certified in First Aid /CPR.
- Medication certification.
- Able to lift between 25-50 pounds.
- Valid PA Driver's License preferred.
