Job Title: Staff Accountant
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant serves as a staff resource in support of the Diocesan Finance Department, in financial and administrative matters. Performs work duties using considerable judgment while collaborating with and advising the Finance Department on issues involving diocesan entities to insure compliance and efficiency.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining adequate internal control systems to safeguard diocesan assets and ensure the efficient stewardship of resources.
- Maintains accurate files, record keeping, and reporting systems for all diocesan financial matters. Prepares periodic reports for the diocese as needed.
- Provides financial and accounting functions for the diocese. Records transactions, revenue and expenses in Intacct, statements and general ledger accounting.
- Prepares monthly general ledger account and bank reconciliations.
- Performs some general administrative functions as required.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university; and at least one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Religious Requirement: Must be an individual who possesses or is willing to possess a basic understanding of the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church and who has a sound working knowledge of or is willing to understand the Catholic faith and Church hierarchy.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and work instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, diocesan staff, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of general accounting software, MS Word, Excel, and internet software. Must have the ability to learn other accounting software as required.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and consistent with a general office work setting. May be occasionally required to work other than normal business hours.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
