Position Summary: :The employee in this position provides competent, effective, and evidence based mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults with identified mental health diagnosis. This service is designed to meet the specific mental health needs of the identified client as they relate to their diagnosis and can be provided in-home, in-office, in-school or other approved/appropriate community setting. Therapy may include psychoeducational activities/interventions designed to assist the client of the reduction of symptoms. Services are provided with client-centered and family-centered approaches and are delivered through individualized treatment planning.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Implement various theoretical treatments and protocols to provide guidance and appropriately address client situations.
- Perform crisis intervention as needed; may be before or after regular working hours.
- Educate and involve family members or other loved ones in the treatment process when necessary.
- Examine issues including substance abuse, caregiving, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, relationships, self-image, stress, and suicide.
- Comply with and maintain all aspects of HIPAA compliance.
- Maintain all records including client diagnostic, treatment plans, and progress notes in EMR, Client Track, and hard files.
- Collaborate with the other members of the treatment team such as doctors, teachers, and pediatric therapists to ensure clients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
- May provide mental health counseling to students directly referred from area Catholic Schools.
- Provide class and staff presentations on pertinent mental health issues and preventative education in areas identified by the school.
- Effectively support and carry our all policies and procedures, as well as decisions made by the agency’s leadership and function as a positive and supportive member of the agency’s team.
- Consistently provide the highest level of service to clients, all referral sources (parishes, schools, partner agencies) and stakeholders of the agency.
- Demonstrate the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.
- Participate in all required group and/or individual clinical supervision meetings, staffing and file reviews.
- Perform duties according to the 1) ethical and professional standards and policies of Catholic Charities; 2) ethics of chosen field of study; 3) values and tenets of Catholic Social Teaching.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree required in counseling or related field.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Candidate must hold a clinical license, associate license or working toward licensing in the state of Indiana (LMHCA, LMHC, LMFTA, LMFT, MSW, LSW, LCSW) according to the state licensing board requirements.
- Successful candidate must possess familiarity with and demonstrate respect for the Catechism of the Catholic faith, Catholic sacred tradition, and possess a dedication to advancing our Catholic mission.
- Ability to work independently and effectively to provide services
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed (e.g., at times before 8:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m.) and travel with the Diocese as required.
Skills:
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis and treatment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office 365.
Conditions Of Employment:
- Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- If your position requires you to transport clients, staff members, or volunteers with your personal vehicle as needed, it is required that you have a reliable vehicle with personal vehicle liability insurance coverage per person and per occurrence.
- If your position does not require you to transport clients, staff members, or volunteers with your personal vehicle, or such transportation is restricted to use of agency vehicles, your personal vehicle liability insurance coverage must be at least per person and per occurrence.
- Successful completion of federal and state background checks
- Successful completion of child welfare screening
- Successful completion of drug and Mantoux (TB) screens
