Sacred Heart Parish in Yankton SD is seeking a highly motivated, mission minded Catholic to serve in the role of Front Desk Receptionist/Administrative Assistant. Provides primary phone, text & email support for incoming communications.
Greets and assists visitors.
For visitors who need assistance - provide referral to appropriate charitable agencies and other social services as needed.
Coordinates the daily operation of Sacred Heart Parish including volunteer scheduling and recruitment, meeting room scheduling, key distribution, parish communications, and resource management
Maintains Sacramental records, office files, parish calendars and other files as needed.
Oversees bulk mailings
Orders and organizes office and liturgical supplies
Maintains parish database and communication platform. Provides data as requested for targeted mailings, volunteer recruitment, annual reporting, and responding to parishioner needs
Participates in staff meetings and as required other meetings. Ensures any required actions are taken.
Provides clerical duties for parish clergy and other designated staff and clerical support for administration, faith formation and other departments as requested and time permits.
Collaborates with clergy to assist with recruiting & scheduling volunteer ministers & other needs.
Safe Environment Program Coordinator (optional and may be reassigned)
Communicates info to weekend liturgical ministers as needed.
Collaborates with clergy in scheduling and planning funerals, weddings, baptisms, weekend Masses and other liturgies.
Essential Qualifications:
Primary:
Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position.
Willingness and ability to act as a personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.
Proficient in written and oral communications
Highly motivated with ability to work independently but also as an integral part of the parish team
Other Elements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding and good working knowledge of desktop applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Work Suite and various web applications.
Proficiency in database management.
Ability to work with a variety of office equipment including printers & postage meters.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment to think strategically, balance multiple tasks & interruptions, and conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
Proven communication skills, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals while maintaining strict confidentiality.
