Position Description
The Diocesan Telecommunications Corporation is seeking a full-time Morning Show Host/Development Director to operate all aspects of live assist/automated radio station as station policy dictates during live morning show 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
- Host a three-hour Monday through Friday on-air morning show from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., and present and discuss special programming features, community and Diocese of Corpus Christi events, write and present local news each hour
- Ad-lib station ID, time/temperature, etc., to identify station
- Execute on-air call-in giveaways and contests as directed interacting with callers/listeners
- Operate audio console to mix sources
- Prepare and deliver short, scripted newscasts and recorded announcements, ad-lib developing news, weather, emergencies, and other information to keep audience informed of important events
- Produce and edit multiple weekly on-air 30-minute programs in both English and Spanish
- Coordinate schedules of outside presenters of each show
- Writes PSAs and other scripts as directed
- Selects music according to format as directed; monitors music and voice levels for appropriate quality during shift
- Advises Station Manager of log discrepancies and technical problems
- Maintains trouble logs and station logs per FCC rules
- Develop new station underwriters, service existing underwriter accounts, and assists with fundraisers
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Live, on-air broadcast experience required
- Previous non-commercial station experience
- Inside or outside sales experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Professional in all aspects of performing duties
- Able to demonstrate through air checks and recordings the ability to integrate on-air personality with the format of the radio station
- Knowledgeable of Windows Operating systems, Adobe Audition, and Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
- Advanced experience on Audio Vault Automation Systems
- Ability to learn new technology
- Personable, friendly, and courteous to clients, co-workers, show listeners, the community
- A responsible self-starter who works well as a team member
- Able to take direction and be a leader when necessary
- High quality vocal, communication, and telephone skills
- Reliable transportation and personal communication devices
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Good working knowledge of the Catholic Church and its teachings including holy days and liturgy
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug test prior to hire; and complete Safe Environment Training
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to maintain composure under duress
- Ability to lift 15 pounds or more
- Prolonged use of computer of other equipment
- Schedule: 5:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
