Job Description
Holy Family Classical School is looking for full time Preschool/Kindergarten Lead Teacher in a Montessori classroom for the 2024-2025 academic year. This ministerial, teaching position will report to the Head of the School.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Maintain an orderly environment and keep it clean and in good condition. Make sure materials are in proper places on shelves, complete and ready for use.
2. Plan and prepare nutritious breakfast, snacks and/or lunch daily.
3. Take time to observe the children and the classroom daily.
4. Share questions and observations with the classroom aide.
5. Maintain classroom records.
6. Protect the peace and privacy of the children at work.
7. Phrase directives positively when speaking with children.
8. Establish positive relationships with children, characterized by mutual respect and good will.
9. Work with individuals and groups of children.
10. Supervise the classroom.
11. Share responsibility with the classroom aide for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times.
12. Maintain strong relationships with the parents, characterized by mutual respect and good will. Refer questions/concerns about children, their behavior, and/or academic progress to the Head of the School as needed.
13. Prepare written Accident/Injury reports in case of injuries.
14. Supervise children in the execution of fire drills and lockdown drills.
15. Participate in staff meetings, staff development workshops and Community events.
16. Model integrity, responsibility, and respect for all persons.
17. Respect confidentiality of information pertaining to children, families and/or staff.
18. Participate in the establishment and maintenance of an atmosphere of support and collegiality in the school community.
19. Comply with school procedures and policies; Assist in school projects and programs; and communicate with the Head of the School any personal and professional difficulties with children, parents and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A practicing Catholic in good standing who is joyfully striving to live according to Christ's words.
• Fidelity to the Magisterium in thought, word, and deed;
• Familiarity with classical educational methods and/or openness to learning about and implementing the same;
• Bachelor's degree in a related field with teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification;
• Support the full mission of Holy Family Classical School by word and witness;
• Help cultivate a culture of virtue and holiness in the classroom and the community;
• As a minister of the Catholic Church, give witness to the full mission of the school in all aspects of professional and personal life;
• Take an active role in contributing to a Christocentric, classical community.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to a wide variety of students and circumstances;
• Effective planning skills and collaboration with administration and parents;
• Competency in teaching, pedagogical methods, and student management;
• Flexibility and adaptability in and out of the classroom;
• Understand, appreciate, and implement positive discipline in the context of virtue-ethics;
• Maintain positive self-image and positive regard for students in word and deed;
• Create a disciplined, organized, safe, open, and joyous learning environment.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Work cooperatively and effectively with the administration and staff;

• Keep parents informed regarding student progress;
• Establish and maintain regular communication with parents and guardians;
• Maintain professionalism in appearance, grooming, words, manners, and actions;
• Handle confidential situations, discipline, and/or sensitive information discreetly;
• Seek professional growth opportunities in consultation with the school's administration;
• Interpret school programs and policies to the local community in a positive manner;
• Maintain punctual and full attendance for all required professional days and events;
• Maintain diocesan VIRTUS/CYP certification (ongoing annually);
• Fulfill responsibilities as assigned in the spirit of the school's Catholic, classical mission.

COMPENSATION
Salary based on experience, beginning at $40,850 for a new teacher with no experience. Position includes medical, dental, vision, matching retirement, and 38 days paid holiday.
