General Position Summary: The Assistant Coordinator of Youth Ministry will work in collaboration with the Coordinator of Youth Ministry to assist with envisioning, organizing and overseeing youth ministry events including leading Catechesis, activities, and events as appropriate.
Principal Accountabilities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of Catechesis and youth ministry classes and events.
- Assist in the Discipleship of young people , deepening their knowledge and relationship with Christ and His Church.
- Assist in mentoring YM participants in leadership and evangelization skills.
- Create and maintain records including but not limited to registration, enrollment, attendance of YM students/participants.
- Collect and curate YM bulletin & website updates to send to Director of Communications.
- Input and maintain data for sacrament preparation programs.
- Point of contact for scheduling Sacrament Preparation Discernment Interviews.
- Maintain classroom and storage spaces ensuring that all are organized and well-stocked with materials needed for ministry.
- Answer emails and phone calls regarding general questions about the department and its plans and policies.
- Maintains current records on all youth participating in programs and all youth & adult volunteers (including Safe-Environment information).
- Serves as member of the Catechesis and Evangelization team and the parish staff. Attends staff meetings, prayer days and educational days.

- Assessment of organization and supplies required for successful instruction and event management
Supervision Given And/or Received
- Assist in the Supervision of Youth Ministry Catechesis and Events
- Receive strategic direction from the Coordinator of Youth Ministry and the Director of Catechesis and Evangelization.

Working Conditions And/or Physical Requirements
- Flexible work hours including some nights and weekends
- Physical strength to do room set-up, carrying books, packages, boxes, supplies.
Travel Requirements
Education And Experience Preferred
- High School Degree Required with some college education preferred.
- Experience working in youth ministry
- Knowledge of Spanish desired.
Knowledge And Skills Preferred
- Knowledge of Church teaching
- Knowledge and Ability to lead Christocentric Catechesis and Evangelization
- Excellent communication/presentation skills
- Perception of the pastoral needs of others
- Computer literacy,
- Organizational, facilitation, research, and process skills.
