SOCIAL STUDIES - FULL TIME
Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is seeking candidates for a Social Studies Teacher. The individual will serve as a full-time teacher in our Catholic High School. An Integrated Social Studies Teaching license is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in rigorous planning and implementation, background in a diverse school environment, effective integration of technology, and the ability to equitably assess all students. Other job responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating with parents and colleagues in a professional manner, participation in faculty or committee meetings, participation in school retreats, and supervising students in a variety of settings.
Responsibilities Include:
- Instruct students in Social Studies for different grade levels and at various achievement levels
- Instill student enthusiasm for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Maintain up-to-date lesson plans; develop rubrics for projects and other class activities; and implement the provided curriculum with fidelity
- Prepare engaging lessons and units that promote skills, knowledge, and critical thinking consistent with course outcomes
- Work collaboratively with staff for the good of students and the school.
- Create an atmosphere in which students feel safe and welcomed.
- Communicate regular feedback about student progress; maintain open and timely communication with parents.
- Stay current with classroom technology applications and regularly incorporate them into lesson plans.
- Actively supervise students at all times
- Uphold the values of the Catholic faith
Job Requirements:
- BA or BS in History Education for secondary schools
- Able to pass FBI/BCI background check
- Strong background in teaching pedagogy and technology
- Prefer experience with Google Suite and PowerSchool applications
- Experience teaching high school students in a diverse, parochial setting
- Commitment to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and to best practices in Catholic education. Familiarity with the teachings, traditions, and policies, which apply to formation and development of high school-aged youth.
- VIRTUS certified or willing to be certified.
