Job Title: Director of Evangelization and Community Life
Date position will become available: June 1, 2024
Salary range: $52,000-$54,000
The Director of Evangelization & Community Life, in alignment with the pastor's vision and the guidelines of the USCCB and the Diocese of Colorado Springs, selects, develops, and implements inspiring comprehensive faith formation offerings for adults and all those seeking to become Catholic ages 7 and up.
As a member of the Faith Formation Team and parish staff, this person works with other staff members to foster and maintain a collaborative, cohesive, positive team environment. The Director is a professional catechetical leader who is an exceptional teacher, coach, and learner. This individual is joyful and knowledgeable about the Catholic faith, loves God, enjoys working with people, and lives a life in accordance with the teachings of the church, leading by example, and regularly practicing and growing in the faith.
Responsibilities:
RCIA (Ages 7+ seeking to enter the Church)
- Design and implement a comprehensive, inspiring, and attractive program.
- Write materials and/or evaluate and select suitable materials for purchase.
- Develop session plans/lessons that are rigorous but enjoyable, interactive, and engaging.
- Serve as the primary instructor for sessions, employing creative methods to reach all ages.
- Develop schedule and reserve space
- Recruit and manage volunteer team, including sponsors for each catechumen and candidate.
- Manage registration, participant, and volunteer paperwork.
- Collect proper documentation and program fees.
- Ensure Safe Environment requirements are met for all program volunteers.
- Produce certificates for those receiving sacraments.
- Submit all completed files to records assistant in an organized and timely manner for recording of sacraments.
- Work with Director of Liturgy to prepare participants for liturgical celebrations, including Easter Vigil. Schedule and manage rehearsals for events as appropriate.
- Work with Communications Coordinator to advertise and promote the program to the Pax Christi Community and surrounding area.
Adult Faith Formation (Bible Studies, Alpha, Welcome)
- Implement a variety of faith formation offerings for adults in our community.
- Research and order materials.
- Recruit volunteers to run the sessions.
- Develop schedules and reserve space.
- Work with Communications Coordinator to advertise and promote offerings.
- Manage registrations and collect fees.
- Serve as a resource to group leaders.
- Prepare for and facilitate courses, as needed.
- Tack program participation.
Small Groups
- Support and expand Pax Christi's Small Group Model, designed to encourage development of groups of 6-12 people who will meet on a regular basis to form spiritual, emotional, and community connection.
- Recruit and train volunteers to start and/or lead small groups.
- Work with Communications Coordinator to advertise and promote small groups.
- Serve as a resource to group leaders, including researching, recommending, and ordering materials.
- Track program participation.
General Duties
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with staff, program participants, and volunteers.
- Manage program budget and submit receipts and reimbursement requests in a timely fashion.
- Attend staff meetings, Diocesan meetings or trainings as required.
Demeanor and presence
- Person of strong faith, actively engaged in the Pax Christi faith community
- Use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Stay up to date regarding parish and school events in order to provide accurate and useful information to community members and staff.
- Maintain friendly, professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
- Present and support the vision, ideas, and decisions of the pastor with enthusiasm.
Specific Qualifications
- Strong Teaching and Presenting Skills
- Personable
- Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the Catholic faith
- Excellent language and communication skills
- Organized
- Must pass all background checks, including fingerprinting; any history of criminal activity related to a child or of a sexual nature will be an automatic disqualifier for this position.
- Technology proficient, especially with Microsoft Office Suite and audio/visual systems. Parish Soft a plus.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in related field a plus
- Able to manage repetitive tasks with little or no supervision
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Experience: Prior experience working as a Faith Formation Director, RCIA director, or an educator is strongly preferred.
