St. Brigid Parish is currently seeking a Business Manager to join their team. The Business Manager is a professional and qualified team member who reports directly to the pastor and serves in a key management position. A candidate for the Business Manager position will be eager to use his or her organizational, financial, and interpersonal skills to assist the pastor in management of the financial and personnel resources of the Parish. This is a part-time position, 25-30 hours per week in person at the Parish Office in Lexington.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Financial Management
- Prepare annual reports, interim reports, and other miscellaneous financial reports.
- Handle bank relations to include management of accounts and problem solving.
- Manage bookkeeping functions including, but not limited to, payables and receivables and all other revenue and expenses of the Parish.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements in a timely manner.
- Staff liaison to Parish Finance Council, which requires attendance at Parish Finance Council Meetings.
- Oversee the management of the Parish’s operational and financial records.
- Manage payment of salaries and benefits.
- Manage weekly offertory processing.
- Communicate timely and effectively with Pastor about all financial and personnel matters.
- Responsible for communication with the Archdiocese regarding the finances of the Parish.
- Coordinate purchasing procedures for the Parish.
- Act as the primary contact for parishioners concerning the finance department
- Manage fundraisers and grant applications for the Parish, especially the Grand Annual Collection, and Planned Giving.
- Active collaboration with the Catholic Appeal Campaign Coordinator of the Parish and communication with the Archdiocese pertaining to the Catholic Appeal.
- Prepare and file required federal and state employee tax forms
- General
- Additional operational and human resources responsibilities.
- Attend meetings and trainings relative to the role, as necessary.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in business, accounting, or related field with 7+ years related experience or equivalent preferred.
- 3-5 yrs. supervisory/management experience preferred.
- Understand and support the mission of the Catholic Church.
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive matters with tact, respect, and discretion required.
- Demonstrated experience in finance and accounting, QuickBooks, or Intacct experience preferred.
- Knowledgeable about safety and security and human resources issues preferred.
- Knowledgeable of Archdiocesan policies and guidelines preferred or a willingness to learn them and the ability to implement them.
- Demonstrated experience in appropriate computer technology skills; must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Experience administering payroll is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A strong service orientation is critical.
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
- Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
- Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
