Description
Holy Cross School is seeking a part-time Spanish teacher for grades K-8 for the 2024-2025 School Year. Holy Cross School serves a diverse community of students within a nurturing and family-focused climate. We are looking for a motivated teacher who will lead a positive, warm, and joyful classroom and has enthusiasm for learning and teaching.
The teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic Church by planning, guiding, and evaluating students' learning process within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The teacher provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. The teacher has decision-making responsibilities in keeping with school policies and the Diocesan Administrative Manual. The position is hired and evaluated by the Principal.
Responsibilities:
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the school's mission.
- Gives evidence of lived Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
- Helps build the school's faith community by demonstrating a willingness to participate in and plan school religious and service activities.
- Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives and incorporating school and diocesan curriculum objectives into lesson plans.
- Demonstrates competence in teaching by demonstrating current, thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter, communicating effectively with students and parents, and organizing classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks and motivate student learning.
- Duties: Develops and uses effective methods of evaluation that are directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently and effectively evaluates student progress.
- Establish a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self-direction and positive self-image; set high standards for student behavior and effectively manage inappropriate behavior.
- Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment.
- Cooperates with school and diocesan administration; works effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents.
- Always demonstrates professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations.
- Maintains confidentiality of information and displays sound judgment in dress and general behavior.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
- Teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement.
