Qualifications
1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in youth ministry, religious education, catechetics, theology or a related degree preferred
2. Three (3) years' experience in administering a youth ministry program, along with experience in supervising and developing staff;
3. Two to three years' experience in catechizing or teaching religion (i.e. as a religion teacher in an elementary or secondary school) or as a catechist in a parish faith formation program;
4. Strong knowledge and appreciation of Roman Catholic Liturgy
5. Experience with evangelization and disciple-making
6. Experience with social media and creating print media
7. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with others
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Business Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access, and PowerPoint) and Google Business Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail)
9. Proficient in Social Media platforms, especially Facebook and Instagram
10. Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively
11. Strong organizational and time management skills
12. Able to facilitate meeting and group processes
13. Demonstrated fidelity to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church
Job Summary
This is a 35 hour/week position. The position provides vision and coordination for the grouping's efforts in ministry to young people in grades six through twelve. This includes weekly high school and middle school gatherings, monthly activities, catechesis and sacramental preparation (Confirmation). This position is responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs and events to enhance and foster the faith formation of the youth. This position works collaboratively with the Pastor/Administrator, Clergy Team, Director of Pastoral Care and Lay Ministry, Director of Religious Education and other parish staff. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Regina Coeli Parish.
Responsibilities
1. Under the Pastor/Director of Pastoral Care and Lay Ministry, develop and coordinate programs of adolescent catechesis/evangelization into a comprehensive ministry to, with, by and for young people.
2. Serve as a resource person to ministries involving youth and a liaison between them and the parish staff, pastoral council and other committees.
3. Assess the faith formation needs of youth in the parish and provide reports to the Pastor/Director of Pastoral Care and Lay Ministry.
4. Communicate regularly with parents, seek input as appropriate, and implement appropriate services and programs that support parents as the primary educators of their children.
5. Use various means of communication (e.g. social media, bulletins, website, Flocknote, etc.) to engage the parish at large, parents, and youth.
6. Work with the Diocesan Office for Compliance to implement age-appropriate programs for youth.
7. Coordinate the recruitment, training, support, and evaluation of volunteers in the youth ministry program.
8. Work with the DRE to develop a systematic and intentional plan for adolescent catechesis that utilizes a creative variety of formats, settings, and timeframes.
9. Provide resources (print, video, diocesan) for effective programming.
10. Provide appropriate training for the adults and young people in leadership positions.
11. Work closely with the DRE to coordinate/implement the Confirmation program
12. Foster the involvement of young people in the life of the parish, including living the liturgical life, serving on various parish committees and being involved in parish activities.
13. Coordinate the outreach to and evangelization of all young people in the parish.
14. Serve as the liaison with the Diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Engagement and their programs, services and resources.
15. Develop, schedule and/or facilitate workshops, retreats, classes and other offerings.
16. Work with the Pastor/Director of Pastoral Care and Lay Ministry and the Parish Director of Communications to develop effective marketing campaigns for workshops, retreats, classes and other offerings.
17. Track parish participation in programs and work with the Pastor/Director of Pastoral Care and Lay Ministry to develop mechanisms for receiving feedback on program effectiveness.
18. Take responsibility for self-development and continuing education in areas pertinent to the mission of the Parish such as life-long faith formation.
19. Demonstrate characteristics and qualities desired of a Roman Catholic lay leader, including excellent character, integrity and fidelity to the teachings and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
20. Assist with parish responsibilities as assigned with confidentiality and discretion, demonstrating excellent internal and external customer service.
