Description
Bishop Grady Villas is looking for a dependable person who enjoys assisting individuals with disabilities with their everyday activities in their homes and in community settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop resident's basic living skills through instruction and positive reinforcement.
- Assist and document the development and implementation of long and short term goals for residents.
- Develop and maintain a positive and effective relationship with residents, families, staff, administration, and other providers while assisting in coordinating with any all of their needs concerning residents.
- Perform or assist residents with personal hygiene as needed.
- Perform or assist residents with domestic duties as needed.
- Coordinate resident participation in leisure, recreational, volunteer and faith activities.
- Adhere to resident behavior and health management.
- Maintain a safe environment for the resident, prevent harm to resident, self and others.
- Transport resident to and from work, scheduled appointments and recreational activities in a safe and timely manner.
- Maintain current certification as required by Bishop Grady Villas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or childcare setting or in working with persons who have a developmental disability.
- College, vocational or technical training equal to 30 semester hours, 45-quarter hours, or 720 classroom hours can substitute for the required experience.
Reasoning Ability:
- Individual must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

The employee is required to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders (changing a light bulb, etc.).
