Description
Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Parish seeks an experienced administrative assistant and receptionist. The ideal candidate supports the mission of the parish to welcome and serve members and visitors while providing outstanding administrative support to the church staff. This role requires a person with excellent interpersonal skills who relates well with people. Good communication skills are essential – verbal, written, electronic.
Primary Duties:
- Serves as primary administrative and communications support to the pastor, pastoral associate, finance manager and facilities manager.
- Serves as a receptionist, including greeting visitors, providing information and assistance both via phone and in person, answering/screening phone calls.
- Serves as a member of the Welcome Staff, supporting the weekend reception/office needs to serve parishioners and visitors during Sunday Mass times.
- Performs clerical tasks to support parish office operations, including processing mail, maintaining and organizing files, scheduling ministry and events, preparing weekly/monthly calendars and office reports.
- Maintains inventory for office and general ministry supplies.
- General office duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years’ experience performing administrative and executive support duties.
- Highly communicative, with excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
- Efficient and effective organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Team player, with experience in co-work roles as necessary to support church operations.
- Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Proficient and confident computer user, including MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel). Familiarity with PDS or similar software for scheduling, membership, etc. is a plus.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Catholic Church.
- Public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
- Ability to pass Diocese of Orlando background check and safe environment training.
