The Finance Department at the Pastoral Center is looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for the accounting and financial analysis for the Lay Benefit plan entities including the Health & Dental Trusts and the Lay Pension Plan. This includes the preparation of the monthly and year-end financial statements and their presentation to management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain compliance with GAAP for all entities and their associated accounts, including adherence to all required policies and procedures.
Perform the month end and annual closings for the entities.
Prepare monthly reconciliations and analyses of all accounts, supporting workpapers and monthly financial and management reports for the entities.
Monitor weekly cash flow to ensure adequate balances are maintained to address current needs.
Working with Treasury and Accounts Payable, process ACH transfers and check requests to ensure vendor payments are made within terms.
Present monthly and year end results to management.
Work with external auditors to provide information in the preparation of the annual financial statements.
Provide ad hoc reports as requested and participate in department projects as required.
Assist with the implementation of new policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Interact in a positive and professional manner with staff and visitors at the Pastoral Center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's in Accounting or Business Administration (with a concentration in accounting).
Minimum of 3 years' experience at the senior accountant level.
Benefit plan experience desired.
Non-profit experience a plus.
Intacct experience a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively.
High level of Microsoft Office proficiency.
Strong service orientation.
Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic Church.
