Music Scores Cataloger
Duration: The Assignment is scheduled to begin and end during the summer of 2025
Purpose of the job: The Music Scores Cataloger will be responsible for all of the original and copy cataloging for a collection of approximately 200 music scores.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Using RDA cataloging methods and OCLC, perform original and copy cataloging of a core collection of music scores. Determine an item's subject heading, main entry, and call number, and enter this information into OCLC. Maintain a list of OCLC cataloging records for downloading into the library's ILS system (SirsiDynix Horizon).
· Responsibilities include authority work as needed, adding copies/volumes, maintaining notes and other data fields, importing records, and other cataloging-related tasks.
Supervisory responsibilities: None.
Fiscal responsibilities: No fiscal responsibilities.
Compensation:
Negotiable. Two payments will be issued: one at the completion of the first half of the project, a second payment at the successful conclusion of the second half of the project.
Knowledge and skills required:
ALA-accredited MLS degree required.
Experience using online library systems and related software is required.
Knowledge of MARC format, RDA, and LOC classification cataloging using OCLC
Use of the MARC Edit for batch processing is preferred.
Effective communication and organizational skills are required.
Self-starter.
Working conditions: This position is remote and requires access to computer equipment and the Internet. An alternative work location can be set up at the University of St. Thomas Doherty Library. Some bending, lifting, and stooping required in an office environment.
