Position SummaryThe Diocese of Phoenix is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Engagement Manager to join our Office of Mission Advancement. This role is instrumental in building meaningful relationships that connect individuals and communities to the mission of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Phoenix.
With a focus on engagement, stewardship, and planned giving, the Engagement Manager will foster long-term partnerships, inspire generosity, and help strengthen the spiritual and financial foundation of our Church. This is more than a development role—it is a ministry of relationship, witness, and service.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of 140–160 key constituents, including donors, pastors, parish leaders, and Catholic organizations.
- Cultivate and steward relationships to deepen engagement and grow philanthropic support.
- Identify and develop relationships with prospective major donors and key stakeholders.
- Promote planned giving opportunities (e.g., wills, trusts, bequests) to support the Church’s long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate with diocesan partner organizations to coordinate and enhance giving strategies.
- Serve as a liaison between the Office of Mission Advancement, parishes, and the Bishop.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of donor interactions in the donor database (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred).
- Stay informed of industry best practices in fundraising and Catholic stewardship.
Qualifications & RequirementsRequired:
- Active, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, nonprofit management, communications).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a related field.
- Proven track record in cultivating and securing major and planned gifts.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Respect for and sensitivity to the cultural diversity within the Diocese.
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or similar donor management software.
- Knowledge of planned giving strategies and vehicles.
