Position Overview:
In this key role, the Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and budgeting functions, including financial reporting, audit preparation, and maintaining day-to-day fiscal operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a high level of integrity, and a commitment to excellence in financial stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze financial statements and general ledger journal entries
Maintain detailed records of assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses
Reconcile accounts and bank statements; ensure financial data integrity
Prepare and review internal and external billings and payment processing
Support budgeting activities and the preparation of financial reports
Assist with annual audits and related financial documentation
Maintain vendor relationships and oversee accounts payable/receivable
Prepare required tax documents, including 1099s and other filings
Track investment activity and update corresponding Excel reports
Support special events with business office activities and reconciliations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; nonprofit or religious organization background a plus
Solid understanding of tax reporting and financial regulations
High attention to detail with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Financial Edge or Raiser's Edge is a plus)
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Information:
This position requires occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and regular computer-based work
Must be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a collaborative office environment
