Position: Faith Formation Coordinator
Reports To: Pastor
The faith formation coordinator is tasked with implementing the Bishop’s “The Way” program for St. George and St. Jude parishes, aiding parents as the primary educators of the faith. Religious Education at the parish spans kindergarten through high school. The coordinator will work with parish volunteers to run the programs and is responsible for keeping the program on mission with our parish and the diocese. The coordinator is also welcome to be a teacher in the classroom if desired. This position would be 10 hours per week.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinate and supervise catechetical programs for children and parents, including sacramental preparation and school of religion.
- Plan and communicate class schedule.
- Manage marketing to promote sign-ups for classes.
- Recruit and train volunteer catechists.
- Conduct registration and track attendance.
- Choose curriculum and order textbooks and supplies.
- Attend and help facilitate religious education classes.
- Provide support to teachers.
- Maintain records for sacramental preparation and program participation.
- Facilitate 1st Communion and 1st Reconciliation and help plan celebrations.
- Organize and implement The Way in the parish
- Request and communicate with parish volunteers to teach
- Communicating important dates with parents
- Oversee first penance, first communion, and confirmation
- Work with the pastor on difficult family situations should they present themselves
- Organize the annual Steubenville conference
- Organize and run Vacation Bible School

Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Passionate about the Church, Religious Education, and building relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with religious education is preferred.
- Pastor’s letter of recommendation preferred.
