St. Philip Neri University Parish (SPN) is seeking a passionate and dynamic person to serve as a Director of Development to promote and extend the SPN mission to others. The Director of Development is responsible for all fundraising and development activities of our thriving ministry. This includes identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and stewarding a portfolio of current and future benefactors. The Director of Development works collaboratively with the various ministries of St. Philip Neri along with students, alumni, parents, volunteers, and other friends of St. Philip Neri to provide opportunities to invest in ministry initiatives that align with their passions. To be successful in this role, a candidate must have strong communication and leadership skills. Organizational skills are critical, along with knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Catholic in good standing with the Church and living out one's vocation to the best of their ability.
-Bachelor's degree or higher
- Two or more years successful experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of fundraising principles or a willingness to learn them.
- Enthusiasm and excellent people skills are essential. A successful candidate must have the flexibility to handle the needs of a fast-paced office and the needs of benefactors.
- Ability to communicate the mission in an understandable and compelling manner both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to lead and motivate others.
- The ability to respect confidences when dealing with sensitive issues.
- Must be willing to travel within Oklahoma and surrounding states for donor visits and cultivation.
- Must be willing to work outside of the normal workday parameters as the need arises (home football tailgates, weekend galas, etc.)
- Skilled in planning, implementing, and achieving work goals, budget needs, and timetables, as well as actionable steps to achieve objectives.
- Ability to work effectively with the Pastor, other staff members, and volunteers.
- Affinity with, and passion for, the overall mission of the organization which is to be "Hearts forming hearts."
General Responsibilities:
The Development Director is responsible for all the organization's fundraising and management of relationships with benefactors. Duties include relationship building with current and future donors to encourage ongoing contributions, seeking out opportunities for financial support, and planning fundraising events.
Essential Duties:
Fundraising and Donor Management:
- Responsible for all matters related to the execution, management, and support of the development program.
-Works closely with various Ministry leaders to develop and drive fundraising strategies that address immediate and long-term fundraising needs.
- Collaborates with the St. Philip Neri finance council and pastor in the preparation of annual fundraising projections, including the creation of individual work plans/targets.
- Manages a portfolio of donors and actively solicits and closes gifts to advance the organization's priorities. Works closely with staff and volunteers to effective steward and solicit donors toward increased level of giving.
- Conducts daily phone calls and weekly visits with current and potential benefactors.
- Develops and builds thoughtful donor stewardship and donor retention strategies for the overall portfolio.
- Provides support in donor event planning and campaign implementation to ensure that there is seamless coordination across the ministry.
- Coordinates and oversees all campaign and operations appeals.
- Responsible for coordinating Pastoral needs and visits with donors, as well as other staff and volunteers, as needed.
- Maintains and coordinates ongoing communication and social media and website content for current and potential future donors.
- Solicits and prepares grant requests from organizations who have contributed historically as well as seeking out new opportunities as appropriate.
- Supervises the stewardship process, including prompt gift acknowledgement, for all benefactors.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Pastor to include special projects to assist in the overall fundraising efforts.
Leadership and Coordination:
- Communicates vision, strategy, and specific initiatives externally to donors. This may include representing St. Philip Neri at key area events and with donors and influencers.
- Attends ministry wide events and periodic planning meetings, as part of the parish leadership team.
- Develop and maintain thoughtful donor strategies, report out on success/learnings and document best practices within the department.
Administrative:
- Prepares annual fundraising projections, including the creation of work plans with targets, objectives, and goals for the assigned ministries of existing and prospective donors.
- Prepares regular reports on impact of development efforts and submits them to the Pastor.
- Keeps track of crucial development issues and collaborates with the finance council and pastor on long-term strategies and plans.
- Records up-to-date notes on donor related information in the donor database.
- Systematically and consistently utilizes donor software for capture of donor information (including meetings, asks and other correspondence).
