Position Overview:
St. Michael the Archangel, a Catholic high school committed to academic excellence and spiritual development, seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Volleyball Coach for the girls’ high school volleyball program. The assistant coach will support the head coach in developing student-athletes both on and off the court, reinforcing Catholic values and fostering a positive, respectful team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the head coach in planning and running practices, drills, and game strategies.
- Assist in the supervision and development of student-athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, skill development, and teamwork.
- Encourage and model Christian values, integrity, and discipline in all team interactions.
- Help coordinate team logistics, including travel arrangements, equipment, and uniforms.
- Monitor academic progress and promote a healthy balance between athletics and academics
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
- Attend games, practices, team meetings, and other school-related functions as required.
- Maintain compliance with school, conference, and state athletic association rules.
- Assist with fundraising, team-building activities, and community outreach when applicable.
Qualifications:
- Prior volleyball playing or coaching experience preferred (high school level or above).
- Must be supportive of the mission of Catholic education and able to model Christian values.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Must complete required background checks and training (e.g., Safe Environment certification).
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Working Conditions:
- Requires evening and weekend availability.
- Involves physical activity, including demonstrating volleyball techniques and leading warmups.
- May require travel to away games and tournaments.
