This position serves Vagabond Missions by raising up young people to serve as missionaries in urban areas and by stewarding and caring for current and future missionaries, under the guidance and leadership of the Director of Recruitment. This position can also work closely with the other Recruitment Officers, Director of Mission and Director of Operations. This position will be responsible for helping execute effective recruitment plans, manage the applicant pipeline, retain current missionaries, and plan for and participate in critical national events. This position does require some travel for recruitment events, site visits, and missionary trainings.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in Catholic ministry
- Highly motivated and organized, a true-self starter
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Google Workspace (i.e. sheets, docs, drive, gmail, calendar, etc.)
- Possesses humility, boldness, courage for Christ and His Church thereby being able to cast vision and inspire strangers to action by creatively presenting the Gospel and sharing the story, purpose and impact of Vagabond Missions
- Ability to fundraise
Preferences:
- 4 year degree from an accredited College or University
- Previous experience with Vagabond Missions
- Live within driving distance of one of our mission sites
Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Missionary Acquisition: Help identify and invest in potential future missionaries by building relationships and casting vision for their future
- Assist with the Recruitment Process and Initiatives: Help ensure a positive candidate experience with our organization by making calls to potential applicants, visiting college campuses, assisting in interviews, etc.; Help plan and participate in engaging opportunities for people to explore and fall in love with missionary life (ie., Come & See weekends, Spring or Summer Internships, mission trip collaborations)
- Current Missionary Retention: Work with the Director of Recruitment to support first year missionaries integrating into Vagabond through regular formation to help their personal, spiritual, and professional growth
- Personal Fundraising: Personally support raise salary and communicate regularly with donors, utilizing the organization's fundraising training and methodology to cultivate relationships (Fundraising training will be provided)
Salary & Benefits:
- Hybrid Pay Structure: Base pay amount provided by VM to support desired pay (if applicable). The candidate must fundraise a minimum of $30,000 annually as well as any additional amount to reach desired pay
- Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance plans offered along with the option to make voluntary deferrals into a 403(b)
- A typical work week is 40 hours but during certain times and seasons it may be less or substantially more
- Time off includes: 12 days paid vacation, 10 days off between Christmas and New Years, certain federal holidays or holy days given off throughout the year, monthly Spiritual Day encouraged
- Option to obtain a MA in Theology from Franciscan University for 50% tuition
