The Senior Financial Accountant leads the operational accounting duties for the Finance Office and the Mission Advancement Office (MAO). Responsibilities are to oversee the General ledger of (2) companies (Operating and MAO) as well as engage with segregation of duties with other finance staff members to achieve best accounting practices. The Senior Accountant supports the efforts of the senior leadership of both Finance and MAO and serves as an integral member of the fiscal operations.
Specific Responsibilities
Provides a point of contact for the members of the community regarding finance matters. Day-to-day duties include:
a) Determining fiscal needs of community members and full charge bookkeeping for both Operations and the MAO, assisting leadership of matters of fiscal administration.
b) Manages the following accounting procedures
I. Proper posting of cash disbursements and cash receipts to multiple bank accounts
II. Assisting CFO in cash flow management, schedule timely payments for large invoices. Coordinates with CFO and MAO Director on timely payment of other invoices
III. Monthly ACH and Wire activity
IV. Monthly preparation of internal MAO financial statements
c) Assists in preparation and schedules for annual audit
d) Assists in banking, ach/wire transfers and credit cards
e) Prepares and analyzes monthly reports for distribution
f) Performing special projects and tasks as required.
g) Assists Mission Advancement Director preparing the Fiscal Year budget
h) Other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications Required
a) Preferred practicing Catholic
b) 5 years of experience in full charge accounting
c) CPA not required but strong knowledge of GAAP needed
d) Extensive Quickbooks experience including analyzing generated financial statements.
e) skills, such as proficiency in Excel, Word and other office related software packages
f) traits, such as attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
