Qualifications: The Director of Sacred Liturgy and OCIA is a faithful Catholic who demonstrates an authentic love for Christ and His holy Church; who appreciates and participates in the liturgical life of the Church; who joyfully shares the gospel and willingly accompanies others into the fullness of Christ; who desires to form intentional disciples after the heart of Jesus Christ; who demonstrates a high level of organizational skills and team building abilities; who is prayerfully reliant on the Lord; who has a passion for mission; and who collaborates joyfully with others. A bachelor's degree in pastoral studies, theology, liturgical studies, or catechesis is preferred. Experience in parish liturgy and/or OCIA is also preferred.
Job Function: The Director of Sacred Liturgy and OCIA plans, coordinates, and oversees the liturgical life of the Cathedral parish. The Cathedral hosts many beautiful and special diocesan liturgies each year, including priestly ordinations, the Rite of Election, and the Chrism Mass. The Director of Sacred Liturgy and OCIA also oversees and coordinates the various dimensions of the OCIA process - catechetical, spiritual, communal, and liturgical - for the parish. The Cathedral employs a team approach and a readiness model to OCIA. The Cathedral OCIA runs year-round and provides an entry point for catechumens or candidates at any time during the year. Sacraments of Initiation are usually celebrated at least three times during the year.
