In collaboration with the Tribunal staff and the Bishop, the Assistant/Notary helps petitioners present their case for nullification of marriage to the Church for evaluation so they can put their lives in right order with God.
This position provides a unique opportunity for an employee who is able to multitask within established processes, combining information accuracy, effective communication skills, and a willingness to serve.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Judicial Vicar of the Diocese:
masters the procedures of the Tribunal
develops a working familiarity with Church law on marriage
observes strict confidentiality at all times
answers incoming phone calls and emails to the Tribunal office
assists persons seeking information regarding annulments
serves as Ecclesial Notary for Tribunal purposes
verifies legitimacy of appropriate documents
handles correspondence regarding annulment cases
maintains current and archival filing systems of the Tribunal
organizes and attends weekly case review and drafts necessary decrees or correspondence
processes pre-marital paperwork
attends canon law training workshops and conferences as necessary
