Job Summary
The Dean of Students at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture that celebrates the unique advantages of an all-girls Catholic education. This position is responsible for creating a safe, disciplined, and supportive environment that encourages personal growth, academic success, and leadership development. By promoting a growth mindset and embracing the school’s all girls mission, the Dean works collaboratively with students, families, and faculty to empower young women to thrive in all areas of their lives. The Dean is part of the Administrative leadership team that includes the President, Vice President, Principal and the Director of Special Services.
The Dean of Students will teach at least two classes.

Key Responsibilities
Student & Family Support
Safe And Disciplined Environment
- Promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and disciplined learning environment aligned with the mission of the school.
- Keep discipline records up to date
Parent Support
- Work with the Parent Engagement Coordinator to provide quarterly parent workshops focused on the social emotional needs of teen girls.
Counseling Services
- The Director of Student Support Services oversees all counseling. Communicate regularly with the Director for continuity of care for students.
- Work with counselors and parents/guardians as needed.
Behavior Plans
- Develop and monitor individualized behavior plans for students to support their personal and academic growth.
- Maintain regularly communication with the Principal to ensure continuity
Attendance
- Address attendance issues in collaboration with students, parents, and the school secretary, fostering accountability and engagement.
- Develop and monitor individualized attendance plans for students and families.
Detention Coordination
- Organize and manage detention programs, ensuring they are restorative and educational in nature.
- Keep accurate records of detention.
Academics
Classroom Teaching
- The Dean of Students will teach at least two courses in order to provide an opportunity to engage with students in the classroom as well as provide more enriching electives on an annual basis. The courses can be tailored to the background and expertise of the candidate.
Standardized Testing
- Administer and oversee standardized testing preparation to ensure student readiness and confidence including but not limited to ordering of supplies, assigning classrooms etc.
- Work with the Director of Student Services for day of logistics for diverse learners.
Tutoring Program
- Serve as the lead coordinator for the Tutoring Program, aimed at assisting students who fall below a C in content area classes.
Summer School Coordination
- Serve as the coordinator for summer school programming, ensuring academic growth and remediation opportunities are accessible to all students.
School Culture Building
All-Girls Advantage
- Promote and advocate for the benefits of single-gender education, highlighting its impact on leadership, confidence, and academic achievement.
- Facilitate gender-based professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance understanding and implementation of best practices in all-girls education.
Social Emotional Learning
- Provide regular content and/or professional development for teachers
- Work with the Principal to integrate social emotional learning into the academic curriculum, through Formation/Advisory Period and otherwise.
- Work with the Director of Student Services and the Parent Engagement Coordinator to offer parent education around social emotional learning and mental health.
Continuing Education
- Participate in professional development and ongoing learning opportunities in areas related to school culture, single-gender education, and student social emotional learning.
Administrative Duties
Driver's Education Coordination
- Oversee and manage the Driver’s Education program to meet student needs.
Locker Management
- Assign and maintain lockers for students, ensuring smooth operations throughout the school year. Coordinate with Administrative Assistant for support.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, School Administration, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in education, student affairs, counseling, or school administration.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, preferably in an urban or Catholic school setting.
- Commitment to the school’s mission required.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and families.
- Ability to enforce school policies while maintaining a supportive and restorative approach to discipline.
- Experience with student behavior management, restorative justice practices, and social-emotional learning.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Organizational skills to manage student conduct, attendance, and intervention programs effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and faith-filled learning environment.
- Proficiency with student information systems and basic technology for record-keeping and communication.
- Spanish proficiency preferred but not required.

This position has an annualized salary range of $60,000 - $65,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
