Director of Faith Formation
Saint George Parish is seeking a Director of Faith Formation. The Faith Formation program supports 500-600 children. The Director of Faith Formation works closely with Parish leadership, Faith Formation volunteers and students, parents and guardians, and other Parish staff to create a positive faith formation experience.

FAITH FORMATION POSITION DETAILS
• Designs, implements, and oversees a multi-year lifelong faith
formation plan for parish.
• Designs, implements, and over sees sacramental preparation for
Eucharist and First Reconciliation.
• Utilizes a variety of faith formation models- family-centered,
intergenerational, and age groups from children through older
adults-in creating a lifelong plan for parish faith formation.
• Uses a variety of resources in faith formation-print, audio, video,
digital, online, and more.
• Knows how to use digital tools, methods, and media in faith
formation.
• Builds digital platforms/websites with faith forming content and
experiences.
• Possess skills to use social media to communicate, build
relationships, and share faith.
• Develops a leadership system for identifying, training, and
supporting volunteer leaders, including catechists, small group
leaders, and more.
• Nurtures the faith and theological knowledge of volunteer
leaders, equipping them with knowledge and skills for faith
formation, and providing them with continuing support and
mentoring.
• Develops processes and tools for managing faith formation
including scheduling, registration, promotion, finances, and
communication.
PARISH LIFE DETAILS
• Identifies, recruits, and trains volunteers. Acts as the main point of
contact for catechists.
• Creates and updates training materials as needed, to ensure
volunteers have been adequately trained.
• Coordinates with the administrative staff, maintains the parish
calendar in general activities and events.
• Maintains parishioner and volunteer information in a database
and supports general faith records management.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, OR ABILITIES
• The Director of Faith Formation is expected to have capabilities in
Theology, Program Development, Catechist Development,
Education, Communication and Relationships, as well as
Administration and Management.
• Must be a Catholic in good standing.
• Faith-filled person willing to be involved in the parish.
• Committed to the Church and its catechetical mission.
• Committed to ongoing self-enrichment and professional
development.
• Committed to staying connected to the Archdiocesan Director of
Faith Formation and willingness to participate in archdiocesan
trainings, workshops and regional deanery meetings for faith
formation leaders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
and maintain confidentiality.
• Is proficient with technology and social media.
• Excellent public speaking, teaching and facilitation skills.
• Ability to prioritize projects.
• Must be self-motivated and innovative.
• Ability to present oneself professionally.
• Must possess supervisory experience.
• Good organizational skills.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• Weekend and evening work hours are required as needed.
• 37.5 hours per week.
• Position requires reliable transportation.
• Must be willing to submit to a background check upon hire.
• Must complete VIRTUS training prior to being hired.
• Must complete state of CT Commission on Human Rights Office's
Sexual Harassment training within two weeks of hire.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
• Requires prolonged standing, walking, and/or sitting
• Requires physical exertion to manually, move, lift, carry, pull, or
push objects or materials
• up to 35 pounds.
• Will require speaking to groups of adults and children on a
regular basis.
• Will require occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
• Will work in an office setting with office machines and
equipment.
• Will be supervising catechists and other volunteers.
• Will require directing the work of administrative staff in regards
to Faith Formation and Parish Life.
