Position Summary
Take leadership in coordinating infrastructure development of Polish Immigrant-to-Immigrant Ministry (PIIM) in local Polish parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago and foster collaborative work among parishes in the cluster(s). Support Polish lay leaders in their formation, training and implementation of this ministry at the parish level to engage them in service, accompaniment and justice actions, responding to needs of the immigrant community. This is a part-time (15 hours per week) position.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the recruitment, training and pastoral work of lay leaders in PIIM.
- Support lay leaders in the planning and implementation of this ministry in their local parishes.
- Develop and conduct formation, leadership development and civic training of new lay leaders.
- Develop and update training materials.
- Organize retreats for lay leadership and support retreat evaluation.
- Organize resources (speakers, services, information, etc.) in local Polish immigrant communities.
- Develop relationships and partnerships with community organizations to leverage resources (speakers, services, information, etc.)
- Staff the archdiocesan advisory committee for this ministry.
- Develop a calendar of PIIM activities for the local cluster(s) and vicariate.
- Maintain communications with lay leaders, pastors and parish staff in support of this ministry.
- Provide pastoral support to lay leaders and foster collaborative work within parish clusters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bilingual (Polish/English), preferred
- 3 years work experience in social ministry preferably in a pastoral context
- Strong understanding of the Catholic Church’s mission and Catholic social teaching
- Strong understanding of ministry, pastoral formation, and leadership development
- Knowledge of immigration issues and legislation; committed to social justice and social action
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity and facility with social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
- Have a personal means of transportation

This position has an hourly salary range of $17.35 - $18.68. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
