Position Summary
Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, invites applications for a core faculty position within the Doctorate in Physical Therapy Program. The successful candidate will bring expertise in physical therapy clinical practice with a demonstrated commitment to community health, geriatric patient/client care across the health continuum and integration of rehabilitation management and evidence informed practice. We are seeking an experienced professional with the versatility to contribute to multiple course areas, including cardiopulmonary content and inpatient clinical practice skills and abilities. Our goal is to recruit a collaborative educator who will help develop future physical therapy leaders dedicated to serving society and advancing the profession
The position is a 12-month tenure-eligible faculty appointment with rank commensurate with experience. Primary academic responsibilities of the position include involvement in teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching includes providing instruction and student assessment in assigned courses. Other responsibilities include course and program assessment, accreditation activities, academic advising, and program and university governance. Service to the program, university and profession is an inherent part of our faculty role. Faculty members are expected to participate in strategic planning initiatives and implementation.
The faculty member will be instrumental in teaching and advancing the mission and vision of Walsh University and our graduate physical therapy program. The faculty member will report directly to the Chair of the Physical Therapy program. Our Physical Therapy program is housed within the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences, which includes graduate programs in Occupational Therapy and Counseling and Human Development. We promote collaboration within the School.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Teach courses assigned throughout our 12-month program.
- Lead course coordination within assigned courses, including development of course content as needed.
- Oversee and participate in student assessment.
- Effectively communicate and display organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff and students within the program and across the university.
- Evaluate students to determine readiness to progress in the curriculum.
- Serve the profession and community, with current active membership in a professional society (i.e. APTA).
- Participate in independent or collaborative scholarly activities including the design, implementation and completion of products with dissemination through presentations or publications.
- Mentors’ students to meet program expectations.
- Provide service to the operations of the program in a collaborative manner, accepting assigned committee responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
The ideal candidate will possess the following.
Education
- A professional degree (BS/MS PT or DPT) combined with an earned terminal academic degree (i.e. DHSc, EdD, PhD)
OR
- a professional DPT degree and clinical specialization or other advanced credentialing AND enrolled in or willingness to enroll in a terminal academic doctorate.
- Desired: Earned ABPTS certification in a specialty area or advanced credentialing: cardiovascular & pulmonary, geriatrics, oncology, pelvic health, wound management.
Work Experience
- Must be licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in the State of Ohio.
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical rehabilitation experience, primarily inpatient clinical experience, however a blend of inpatient and outpatient experience will be considered. Desired: 5 years of experience.
- Teaching experience. Desired: Experience in classroom or laboratory instruction with graduate students, particularly physical therapist students.
- Active involvement in the American Physical Therapy Association, one of its Academy’s or Sections, and/or a state (Ohio) Physical Therapy Association or another professional association. Desired: Involvement in professional community development activities.
- Interest in pursuing grant funding for scholarly interests collaboratively with other faculty.
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to correspond effectively with various individuals including students, faculty, staff and administrators.
- Strong clinical and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational abilities to oversee and manage delivery of courses in the curriculum.
- Time management and multitasking capabilities.
- Ability to resolve issues or conflicts that may arise.
- Comfortable with technology and capable of learning new platforms and software
- Existing record of peer reviewed presentations or publications.
- Interest in pursuing grant funding for scholarly interests.
- Ability to actively apply evidence informed practice into clinical decision making and course content.
The candidate shall also
