Qualifications
· Master’s degree in social work and relevant clinical experience in mental health and substance abuse disorders and populations experiencing homelessness. Licensure (LCSW or LICSW preferred). Other related master’s degree with license (LCDP/LMHC) or license eligible considered.
· 5-7 years clinical experience, leadership, operations management and nonprofit
· A reliable vehicle, and valid driver’s license with auto insurance that meets or exceeds minimum liability coverage.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other related MS Office applications.
Job Summary
Catholic Charities is the human services arm of the Catholic Church within the Diocese of Fall River. Catholic Charities programs are dedicated to helping individuals and families in need, to regain control of their lives. The agency mission is accomplished through widely recognized programs serving the homeless, immigration, and individuals struggling with economic insecurity, food insecurity, and disability. The agency is seeking a director to oversee all our individual emergency homeless shelters in Bristol County, comprised of Grace House and Sr. Rose shelter, Samaritan House, and Ascension House.
Catholic Charities operates several emergency shelters conveniently located across Bristol County/Barnstable County, fittingly individuals struggling with homelessness can receive shelter in a safe, supportive environment. The Director will oversee the individual shelters, ensuring the daily operations and practice conform to the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) regulatory requirements and agency policies and procedures. The master’s level shelter director will provide leadership, supervision, education, and oversight of the shelters. The Director will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the required orientation, training and enriched learning experiences for shelter staff. This position requires that the individual be able to encourage workplace learning and development and offers meaningful clinical insights for staff that results in improved performance. The Director must demonstrate the ability to adapt to and manage change, obtain consensus on solutions, resources and other necessary support.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for ensuring the functions of the agency are met while providing services that are safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and client centered.

- Maintain an effective working relationship with referral sources EOHLC, community agencies, donors and volunteers as well as with colleagues, supervisors, employees and other agency programs.
- Exhibit positive leadership and role modeling, including program development and agency mission.
· Provides support to the Chief Operating Officer in the compliance and effectiveness monitoring, including maintaining accurate records of all relevant reports, audits, and corrective action plans.
· Responsible for creating onboarding training program for new hires to acclimate in shelter environment.
· On a regular basis, organizes and presides required agency core trainings, including shelter-wide education on topics specific to shelter needs.
· Ability to teach and implement crisis intervention and behavior management techniques. Provide clinical consultation, assess clinical emergencies, including suicidal ideation and danger to others.
· Assesses staff learning needs, to enhance operations and efficiency, improving processes and outcomes.
· Identifies staff strengths and weaknesses, provides routine supervision, coaching and direction and utilizes progressive disciplinary approaches with the guidance of Chief Operating Officer.
· Provides timely and objective performance evaluations. Engages in self-evaluation to establish goals for professional development.
· Demonstrates the ability to suspend judgment, while welcoming good ideas that can be combined synergistically to enhance ideas.
· Having the responsibility for managing the shelter managers, making sure that the work is performed as required by the emergency homeless shelter contracts and shelter operating procedures.
· Works with managers to break down siloed practice and ensure quality activities occur in a meaningful way across shelters.
· Oversee accurate and timely documentation, case notes and reporting requirements for the program and delegate as necessary. Conducts chart and documentation audits to ensure quality and compliance.
· Has the fundamental knowledge and skills for managerial decision-making in fast moving environments. Work with the managers to troubleshoot, prioritize, and implement solutions to operational issues.
· Effectively manages and responds to needs and feedback. Manages conflict in a direct and positive manner, and timely responds to concerns and issues.
· Has a strong communication skill to effectively communicate in an open, honest, professional manner to efficiently resolve challenges and issues by actively listening.
· Takes initiative to improve the shelters through innovations and creativity.
· Ensures accuracy of timecards for timely submission to accounting.
· Participates in the interviewing and selection of employees.
· Works collaboratively with Human Resources to submit accurate information in accordance with Human Resources policy.
