Overview:
As an integral member of the parish staff the Assistant Facilities Manager cares for the Facilities aspect of the parish; i.e., building and grounds care. We are looking for a self-motivated person who can work independently and be proactive. This person must have organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively. This person enables others in ministry and offers suggestions to the Pastor and staff when necessary. The Assistant Facilities Manager, as a member of the pastoral staff, is involved in a combination of designated responsibilities, particularly in the tasks necessary to keep the parish environment clean, cared for and efficient in the day-to-day life of the parish.
Experience:
It is expected that the Assistant Facilities Manager has a working knowledge of both business and ministry in order to pastorally work with volunteers, staff, and vendors for the parish. On-going education and networking within the community and particularly the Archdiocese of Denver should be a priority.
Terms of Employment and Evaluation:
The Assistant Facilities Manager is hired by and is accountable to the Facilities Manager and the Pastor with whom there should be ongoing dialogue regarding expectations, activities, and concerns.
Administration:
The Assistant Facilities Manager is responsible for the ongoing upkeep of the facilities. The Assistant Facilities Manager must work in cooperation with the Pastor and his staff to accomplish the vision and work of the parish community. He will be directly accountable to the Facilities Manager.
Expectations & Responsibilities:
The Assistant Facilities Manager schedules, supervises, and performs custodial and routine maintenance for the church buildings, parish office and rectory. He aids in set-ups required for ministry events. In addition, he maintains the grounds of the church, parish office and rectory. This person co-ordinates and supervises parish and community service workers and volunteers to perform tasks as needed.
BUILDING MAINTENANCE: Schedules, supervises, and performs building maintenance and repair to assure proper operation and attractive appearance to include:
Assist and perform scheduled maintenance to assure proper operation and attractive appearance
Drywall repair
Painting
Minor plumbing
Minor electrical repair
Roof repair
Light bulb replacement and inventory
Inspect the fire alarm system with West Metro Fire Dept.
Monitor and make routine adjustments to HVAC system
Maintain timers for irrigation, HVAC, and lighting systems
Maintain records of maintenance, MSDS and OSHA compliance
Able to lift 50 pounds
Able to work on and climb elevated platforms and ladders
GROUNDS MAINTENANCE: Schedules, supervises, and performs grounds maintenance and repair to assure proper operation and attractive appearance to include:
Grass planting, tree pruning, bush trimming, and maintenance of all plant material
Maintain outside appearance and safety of parish facilities
Irrigation maintenance and repair
Snow removal and ice prevention
Operation of heavy equipment - snowplow, commercial mowers etc.
CUSTODIAL DUTIES: Schedules, supervises, and performs the cleaning of parish buildings and grounds regularly to maintain a safe and attractive environment to include:
Cleaning of buildings regularly to maintain a safe and attractive environment
Carpet and flooring maintenance
Vacuuming
Trash removal
Dusting
Washing windows
Clean mirrors
Clean floors and walls
Oil woodwork
OTHER:
Supervises community service workers as well as volunteers when needed.
Supervises Facilities summer help.
Organize volunteers for snow shovel team.
Aid in set-ups required for ministry events
Attend staff meetings, evening meetings and other parish events when necessary
"On call" on a rotating basis, for emergencies involving the facilities
Insure continued repair and maintenance of the machinery
Monitor and maintain the inventory of kitchen dry goods and maintenance supplies
Wash and clean all kitchen towels and wash cloths
Assist with the Art and Environment set up and take down during the liturgical year
Interact with parishioners and staff as needed
When necessary, some ministries might be asked to help to set-up or take down events that might help us be more efficient during busy times
Work together on extra projects throughout the year
Share in the organizing and preparation of the spring and fall church grounds clean-ups
Work together as a team with the staff and parishioners to assist with their ministry needs
Work together with the Pastor in additional projects he might need done throughout the parish
Schedule:
Monday - Friday
8-hour shifts
Occasional weekend shifts
