General Position Summary
The onsite Receptionist welcomes anyone that calls or comes into the Parish office and provides secretarial and related office services to staff, parishioners, and visitors.
Principal Accountabilities
- Performs secretarial duties for the Pastor and other designated individuals.
- Screens and routes telephone calls and responds to inquiries from parishioners by referring calls to appropriate personnel.
- Bulletin preparation and submission
- Maintains the church calendar.
- Mail handling and distribution.
- Maintains the Mass Intention book.
- Orders weekly supplies for the parish and ministries
- Coordinates vendor appointments and deliveries
- Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc. as assigned.

- Responds to inquiries and directs phone calls to the appropriate staff member.
Supervision Given And/or Received
- Supervised by the Business Manager
- Supervises front office volunteers.

- Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods that requires repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to tight deadlines, and a moderate-heavy workload.
- A significant amount of time regularly spent answering and speaking on the telephone providing customer service support and problem solving for both parishioners and staff.
- The ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- This position is onsite only. M-Th 9:00-5:00, Lunch 12:00-1:00, F 9:00-12:00.
Education And Experience
- Two years of college required.
- Two years of experience as an Executive Assistant preferred.
- Experience within a Catholic Church environment is preferred.
Knowledge And Skills Preferred
- Intermediate to advanced capabilities with Canva, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office 365
- Typing speed of 50 WPM
- The ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Demonstrated professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
- Excellent telephone and people skills; ability to interact competently and compassionately with those who call or visit the parish as well as with staff and volunteers.
- Ability to learn new software programs as needed.
- Active member in good standing of a Roman Catholic Church
Travel Requirements
- Some travel required, up to 1% of the time for meetings or off-site events.
FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt, FT, 30-32 hours per week, Onsite
