Description
Under the supervision of the Pastor/Administrator, performs cleaning/light maintenance duties as assigned. Ensures Pastor/Administrator are informed and consulted on all matters and operations of the facilities daily. This is a part-time position not to exceed 20 hours per week.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church ("the Diocese") entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
General Expectations:
Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees are held to a different and, often, a higher standard of conduct. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner which is consistent with, and supportive of, the mission and purpose of the Church. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the Diocese, such that it can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. This position does not require that the employee be Catholic.
General Responsibilities:
The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
- As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Weekly cleaning of the Parish Hall, St. Mary Church, St. Mary Parish Offices, St. Mary Parish Chapel, and St. Mary Parish Rectory.
- Parish Hall and Church may require additional cleaning after special events (i.e. funerals and funeral meals, special Masses and gatherings)
- Keep grounds (i.e. lawn) trimmed and irrigated.
- Monitors and submits requests to pastoral staff for supplies for cleaning/light maintenance duties.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Pastor or his designee.
Education/Experience:
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work assignments
- Flexibility to adjust to changes in schedule, routines and job assignments
- Ability to lift at least 10 pounds and walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to complete Creating and Maintaining a Safe Environment (CMSE) certification training
Qualifications

- Ability to lift at least 10 pounds and walk and stand for long periods of time.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Submit to employment required screening, including criminal history background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check
- Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures
