As the Grants Manager for Parishes and Schools, within the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the primary focus is to facilitate and manage the process of obtaining competitive Federal, State and Foundation grants for the benefit of Central Services, Parishes and Schools. This role will serve as the managing administrator providing oversight, analysis and assistance through the entire grant life cycle. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that the Archdiocesan entity awarded the grant is in full compliance with grant specific requirements for any government funded grants, services and or contracts. the role fundamentally supports the overall mission of Archbishop, by providing support and solutions to help parishes and schools find, manage and grow temporal resources.
Essential Functions:
- Assist Parishes and schools with needs analysis, specifically coordinate with the departments and offices detailed above as well as gather data and prioritize items identified.
- Act as the Archdiocesan internal and external point of contact and liaison as it relates to Government and Foundation grants.
- Research grant opportunities and share with locations who have a need
- Ensure potential grant opportunities do not encumber parish/school property and do not require compliance with programs or activities contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Maintain an ongoing list of grant opportunities that is shared with locations.
- Respond to inquiries and requests related to Government grants, when necessary.
- Develop and maintain relationships with granting agencies/foundations
- Represent the Archdiocese at Federal, state and local meetings conferences, and trainings
- Monitor, track and inform staff (school, parish and Central Services) of upcoming deadlines and deliverable such as annual, quarterly, and monthly reports as required by funders.
- Obtain pertinent, timely compliance information and disseminate to locations and Central Services departments.
- Vet programs/software for grant management; recommend a grant management solution
- Assist locations with the prequalification work i.e. obtaining a SAMS number or documentation of area hate crimes.
- Coordinate with the various departments and offices listed above to develop project specifications and estimates for inclusion the grant application.
- Assist locations with a project timeline, a funding plan and cash flow forecast.
- Develop & maintain a list of professional grant writers and fee structure as a resource for parish and schools who may elect to hire these professionals in pursuit of grants.
- Provide guidance and review to parish & school administrators & staff in the application process including review applications prior to submission; capabilities assessments; gap analyses; project formulation; review and improvement of plans; documents; manuals and procedures. Ensure all relevant central services staff have reviewed the application prior to submission.
- Assist AOB Departments to organize the overall grant funded project plan during project bids and proposals, project implementation and reimbursement requests.
- Assist the locations with tracking, analyzing and reporting on program objectives and outcomes in compliance with the grant award requirements.
- Develop and modify policies/procedures/systems in accordance with government regulations and organizational needs and objectives so that the Archdiocese of Baltimore may achieve maximum participation and funding.
- Maintain a summary of open grant applications and awards by location as well as the status of the grant funded project.
- Provide training on pursuing grants and how to manage and comply with grant requirements.
- Provide additional support to the AOB Department of Development for private grants and other 3rd party funding sources.
Business and Financial Analyst
- Collaborate and coordinate with the Regional Controllers and Central Services departments to provide operational and financial solutions aimed at improving parish and school operations and financial management as it relates to grant opportunities and beyond.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties related to parish and school finance as required.
Position Qualifications:
- BS/BA in accounting, finance or business management, preferred.
- Five to ten years’ experience in finance, accounting, business analysis or grant management.
- Strong written and oral skills and ability to deliver clear presentations and written communications to different constituencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office Products. Knowledge of MS SQL Server, MS Power BI
- Ability to interact effectively as a team member and coordinate/organize various departments and disciplines around a common goal/plan.
- Knowledge of church and school operations a plus.
Range: $85,000 - 93,000, Annualized
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
