Basic Functions
The teacher aide assists school personnel in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The teacher aide is hired by and is directly accountable to the principal. The teacher aide agrees to abide by the established policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Chicago, as well as the policies and procedures of the local school. The principal will determine the specific assignment of the school aide. The teacher aide cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
General Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for children to learn and grow to promote trust and security for children.
- Assist teacher in the delivery of weekly lesson plans based on curriculum outline.
- Assist in preparing materials, classroom arrangement, and schedule for daily class activities in advance.
- Assist in the supervision of the classroom, daily routines, and activities.
- Interact with children for their well-being and involvement in various daily educational activities.
- Assist in the responsibility of monitoring and maintaining evaluation of student progress.
- Base evaluations of student progress on accepted developmentally appropriate practices.
- Observe, report, and record behavior, collaborate, and apply behavior management techniques.
- Maintain communication and teamwork with the Preschool Teacher and Administrative Team.
- Maintain a positive relationship with students, families, co-workers, and administration.
- Allowing preschool teachers to address concerns to parents.
- Maintain classroom materials and school materials.
- Attend and contribute to regularly scheduled meetings and in-services.
- Collaborate and continue to develop best practices.
- Complete any other task or duties assigned by the Preschool Teacher.
