Posting Title: Teaching and Research Assistant- CUA Art Education Master’s Program Overview:
We are seeking a part-time Teaching and Research Assistant who has working knowledge of contemporary art education, teacher education, and research. This person will assist the Director, Dr. Delane Ingalls Vanada, with clerical, administrative, and recruitment in building the Art Education program as well as partial teaching responsibilities. They will also work together with Dr. Ingalls Vanada, who is the P.I. in an international study about art and design education; this person will be part of a team executing and reporting on this collaboration. It is preferred that this person be located within commuting distance to CUA campus—although many aspects of the job can be completed remotely.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $5,600 over the 10-month appointment.
Responsibilities:
The Teaching and Research Assistant will primarily assist the program director in the growth and operations of the Master of Arts in Art Education program at CUA. They will also be expected to contribute to an exciting 4-year grant project. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the CUA program director and P.I. and will vary from semester to semester. Contributions to the team will include some of the following duties and responsibilities:
- Program support for Director of Art Department, P.I. of project
- Partial teaching responsibilities, review papers, and carry out various administrative tasks
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Attend meetings, in-person and online
- Help with coordinating and hosting visiting international students and research teams to our institution and area schools
- Help with communications with participating schools and teachers
- Assist with writing grant reports and prepare materials for possible publications
Qualifications:
- M.A. or M.Ed. in Education, Art Education or Ph.D. candidate
- Linguistic and cultural competency
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a team, taking responsibility for meeting project deadlines and data management
- Professional communication skills (online and in person); able to communicate clearly with supervisor, team members, administrators, teachers, and students
- Ability to handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity
- Strong APA writing skills
