Position Summary:
The Accounting Clerk at Saint Nicholas and Saint William is responsible for providing essential support in maintaining accurate financial records and assisting in day-to-day accounting operations.
This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with accounting principles, supporting the Business Manager with the preparation of financial statements.
This is a Part-Time non-exempt position (24 hours per week).
This position reports to the Business Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks Online.
Record and classify financial transactions, ensuring proper coding and documentation
2. Accounts Payable:
Process vendor invoices, verifying accuracy and proper authorization.
Prepare and process payments, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.
3. Donations Received:
Collaborate with and oversee the money counters that count and deposit the weekly collections.
Record donations received from donors in ParishSOFT.
Responsible for the remote deposit of checks on a weekly basis.
4. Financial Reporting:
Support the Business Manager in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
5. Budget Support:
Provide support during the budgeting process by organizing and entering budget data.
Assist in monitoring budget performance and variances.
6. Compliance:
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
Assist in preparing documentation for audits.
7. General Administrative Support:
Assist with general administrative tasks related to finance and accounting.
Maintain organized financial filing systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance or related field ( Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk or similar role.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
Ability to interact and collaborate with both volunteers and staff.
Livescan fingerprints clearance through the Department of Justice is also a condition of employment.
Salary range:
Based on experience and education, the salary range is $26.00 – $30.00 per hour.
Language Skills:
Proficient in spoken and written English. Ability to follow directions, and learn all policies, procedures, and operational standards. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the supervisor, staff, parishioners, and the public.
