Track & Field Coaching Opening – Spring 2025
St Anthony of Padua Catholic School is currently seeking a Middle School (5th thru 8th grade) Boys & Girls Track & Field Coach for the upcoming season.
More information about the position: The SAOPCS Track & Field season starts with the first practice mid -February. Practices are held Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 at The Woodlands 9th Grade Campus Track (10010 Branch Crossing Dr, Spring, TX 77382).
We are a part for the Greater Houston Catholic Athletic Association (GHCAA). We normally enter 4 to 5 meets for the season. There is a possibility that we will enter 1 or 2 local mini-MS meets during the week. The GHCAA track meets are held at Barnett Sports Complex, 6800 Fairway, Houston, TX 77081. So, there will be some travel involved. Parents of the athletes are responsible for their student athlete transportation to practice and meets. The Track & Field season runs from mid-February to the end of April.
There is a wide range of running and field event skills with our student athletes. Some have some experience, but some do not. But we have had some grades that athletes have had some experience in running and field events. It varies year by year. We do not cut student athletes. So, every student athlete that wants to participate can make the track & field team. Participants will compete against others in their own grade.
It is important that the candidate is knowledgeable about the sport, has excellent communication skills, a good rapport with athletes and parents and most importantly is a good Christian example for our student athletes. Experience in coaching track and field and/or experience in participating in track & field is a plus.
All coaches must fill out an Applitrack form on the Galveston-Houston Arch-Diocese website, complete the online Safe Environment Training and complete a series of required School Annual Trainings online – Bloodline Pathogens, First Aid & Sudden Illness, AED & CPR, Anaphylaxis & Epinephrine and Child Abuse & Neglect.
This is a stipend only position.
