POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs the organization and management of the office of the Annual Diocesan Appeal and Stewardship for the Diocese. This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the annual campaign and the ongoing promotion of Stewardship in our Diocese, providing leadership, support, and materials to parishes and assisting them in their efforts to educate and motivate parishioners toward stewardship as a way of life. Also has responsibility, as the point of contact for the Diocesan Information Management System used by the Chancery Offices and the Parishes, to ensure that they are set up, used, and maintained correctly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: (other duties may be assigned)
Stewardship Vision, Strategy and Leadership:
Provide leadership to educate all diocesan, parish, and ministry regarding the comprehensive principles and practices of Christian Stewardship as outlined in the USCCB pastoral letter, “Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response”.
Recruit, orient, and train the diocesan Stewardship Advisory sub-committee to provide guidance on long-term planning, strategy, and programming in collaboration with the diocesan Pastoral Plan Implementation Team.
Collaborate with other diocesan ministry directors as members of the Diocesan Ministries Directors Collaborative (DMDC) to integrate Stewardship programming into overall ministry education opportunities in the diocese.
Cultivate the practice of Christian Stewardship among the people, parishes, and schools of the Diocese of San Jose.
Finances and Operations:
Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA)
Direct responsibility for success of the annual ADA campaign reaching stated goals ($7 million campaign).
Recruit, orient and train the Annual Diocesan Appeal Advisory sub-committee and obtain recommendations for marketing strategies.
Design an impactful marketing campaign including theme, multimedia collateral materials, incentive programs, recognition opportunities to assist parishes and centers to achieve maximum participation in the ADA.
Educate and motivate pastors and parish leaders on annual campaign details and advanced campaign techniques for maximum results.
Provide marketing and public relations, leadership for the Annual Diocesan Appeal.
Collaboration and Communication:
Parish Capital Campaigns
Educate and guide parishes considering the feasibility of a Capital Campaign and the alternative methods for funding major capital projects.
Provide a reference list and interviewing guide for approved consulting firms.
Review contracts and bids from consulting firms prior to submission to the Bishop for approval.
Collaborate with Major Gifts and Plan Giving Manager with Diocesan Donnor Circles
Assist Director for Mission Advancement & Stewardship in building strong relationships with Diocesan Donnor Circles members.
Maintain membership list for the Blessed Carlo Acutis Donor Circle membership.
Send out renewal notices, process incoming payments, and acknowledge all donations.
Organize and plan events for members, including venue, invitations, guest list, catering, and speakers as appropriate for the event. Thank members for attending following the event.
Process all incoming funding requests.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Assures that communications within/among the constituents and other offices are followed through and responded to in a professional and timely manner. Meeting with the Director for Stewardship and Development on a regular basis to update each other on activities, issues, concerns, etc., and by establishing and maintaining continuous communication with and among the other members of the team.
Maintain major donor database software (DonorPerfect) with current contact information, donor notes, donations/pledge status, and other pertinent information for major donors.
Organize and plan receptions and special events for donors as well as parish and school staff appreciation Luncheon, Planned Giving, and other programs as they come on board and training events for Pastors/Clergy/Parish & School Teams.
Assures the maintenance of the financial record-keeping systems for the office. This includes overseeing expenditures, processing check requisitions, monitoring budget printouts, and assisting in preparing the office budget.
Provides coordination and necessary support in maintaining Director for Stewardship and Development’s calendar and making travel arrangements.
Demonstrated communications and public relations skills.
Demonstrated project-management, goal-setting, and organizational skills.
Superior understanding of Christian Stewardship, experience in fund raising, marketing and statistical analysis, working in the non-profit environment.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communication, Business, Technology or Liberal Arts and five years management experience with strong relational and computer skills. Experience implementing and supporting database systems and applications. Project management and supervisory experience preferred.
Language Skills: Excellent verbal, written and presentations skills. Basic knowledge of Spanish and/or Vietnamese a plus.
Leadership Skills: Strong ability to provide direction, inspiration, communication, and guidance. Exhibit confidence and commitment.
Computational Skills: Strategic thinker, organized, and detail oriented. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting as it relates to project management. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, art and design.
Reasoning Ability: Effective analyzing, problem solving, and decision making with many variables in difficult situations. Creation, interpretation, and implementation of guidelines.
Technical Skills: Strong computer skills (MS Office, databases) with experience in software installation, troubleshooting, and training required .
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current, valid CA Driver’s License .
Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, handle objects, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move table, chairs, boxes, etc. Must be able to drive to various parish locations.
Physical Environment: Works in an individual office with a door. Noise level is quiet to moderate, temperature is variable. Environment at parishes varies from parish to parish.
Working Conditions: The employee must be physically present in the office, able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff and with clients and be able to multi-task and a self-starter. This person must be able to accomplish tasks in spite of numerous interruptions and deadlines.
Other Requirements:
Practicing Catholic preferred.
Knowledge of the Catholic Church structure, culture, and its mission.
Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of the staff as well as with staff members outside the department.
Able to multi-task and provide good customer service.
Travel and overtime (if applicable) may be required occasionally
Salary Range: $68,640 – $91,640 per year. Compensation for the role will depend on the number of factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competency, and experience.
