Purpose of Position: To provide a clean, sanitary, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment at the Parish Center before, during, and after paid and unpaid events.
Essential Functions:
Pre-Event Responsibilities
• Ensure the facility is clean and orderly.
• Unlock all the necessary doors prior to the event.
• Set the thermostat(s) to the appropriate temperature.
• Setup tables & chairs as required. (coordinate with Parish Center Custodian)
• Assist with decorations as required. (coordinate with Parish Center Custodian)
• Ensure all classroom doors are locked, or the hallway gates are in place.
• Review the rental contract and checklist to ensure everything has been taken care of.
• Coordinate with the renter/event leader on all details prior to the event.
• Makes sure sidewalks are shoveled/salted if needed.
• Be the main point of contact for key event personnel, make sure they know who you are and how to reach you.
• Meet with the renters and do a walk through the facility as required.
Responsibilities During the Event
• Events custodian or other staff member MUST be onsite during the duration of the event.
• Check In with the event leaders/key personnel throughout the event to answer questions/resolve issues.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment during the event.
• Check bathroom cleanliness and restock as needed. Empty garbage as needed.
• Clean any areas that need attention during the event (spills, etc.)
Post-Event Responsibilities
• Perform a complete and thorough cleaning of the event center.
o Coordinated with Parish center custodian.
• Use the floor scrubber as required.
• Put tables/chairs away or set them up for the next event - coordinate with parish center custodian
• Lock all the doors and turn off all the lights.
• Set the thermostat(s) as required.
• Gather dirty laundry as needed and start the wash.
Job Qualifications:
• Experience working as a custodian/cleaner.
• Demonstrated skills and interests in this type of work.
• Must be able to work independently to accomplish tasks within allotted time.
• Must be responsible in carrying out high quality work.
• Must be able to work on weekends and evenings.
• Must be available to meet at least monthly with supervisor and/or parish center custodian.

Physical Demands
• Work with repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
• Lift and move objects using proper techniques up to 45 pounds.
• Good working techniques in pushing, pulling and other motions are required.
• Work requires extended periods of standing.
