Outreach Assistant
The Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Atlanta combats food insecurity
through outreach programs for the homeless and working poor, including:
Daily sandwich, snack, and coffee distribution (Monday-Friday AM, with flexibility)
A free community market with groceries and household goods (Wednesday and
Thursday)
A weekly hot meal/soup kitchen (Saturday mornings)
The church is hiring an Outreach Assistant to help oversee these programs as follows:
Morning Sandwich Ministry. Open facility, prepare beverages, sandwiches, and snack
packs for distribution. Serve guests at appointed time.
Shrine Community Market (SCM). Monitor deliveries from Atlanta Food Bank, Second
Helpings, and any other 3 rd party distributors. If volunteers are not scheduled, stock
freezer, refrigerator, and dry goods from deliveries received. As needed, assist SCM
customers in procuring foodstuff from the SCM. Assist SCM volunteers as needed.
St. Francis Table Soup Kitchen. From the previously mentioned deliveries, put aside
supplies needed to run the SFT Soup Kitchen held every Saturday.
Coordinate distribution of excess product to other authorized charities.
Maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
Aid volunteers and serve as a representative of the Shrine to the public.
This position reports to the Outreach Coordinator.
Work Week: Monday - Friday, with flexibility.
Compensation: $15 per hour
Benefits: Not eligible for Archdiocese of Atlanta employee benefits.
Position is Part-time: No benefits accrue
Not to exceed 27 hours per week (without authorization of Supervisor)
