Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge is seeking a full-time employee with a master’s degree in social work to provide services in all aspects of the Pregnancy Services program. This position requires a flexible schedule as well as travel within and outside of the Diocese of Baton Rouge.
The Pregnancy Services Adoption Social Worker is responsible for all aspects of pregnancy services including, but not limited to conducting assessment, counseling, resource integration, preparation, education for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and their families. The Pregnancy Services Social Worker works with women and families who are planning to place their child for adoption as well as those planning to parent their child. This social worker also provides post abortive counseling as needed. In addition, community outreach and speaking engagements are part of responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work with a current social work license in Louisiana
- Prior training and experience in adoption services as well as experience in child and family wellbeing is strongly preferred.
- Experience presenting to various audiences for the purposes of training and education
- Knowledge and understating of the impacts of trauma, especially on young children
- Valid Driver’s License, proof of current auto insurance and reliable transportation
- Completion of background checks such as driving record, criminal record, and sex offense registry, state and local police records, or national sources such as FBI and E-Verify as required by funding agencies or determined necessary by Catholic Charities and results must be satisfactory to CCDBR, it’s representatives, employees or agents as an essential requirement of employment

•Excellent interpersonal skills as well as organizational and planning skills
•Sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics
•Excellent documentation and data management
•Highly proficient in MS Office programs including Word and Excel
•Ability to work independently and maintain flexibility with work schedule
•Ability to participate in community outreach and speaking engagements occasionally outside of typical business hours
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally. This position requires the employee to walk, stoop, lift, bend, squat, kneel, climb, handle and use a computer for several hours per day. Sitting for 6 to 7 hours a day is expected for this position.
- Driving a motor vehicle is expected up to 60% of the time.
- When the agency responds to disasters, performing duties outside primary responsibilities both in the office and at off-site locations affected by the disaster may be requested.
