About: St. Frances Cabrini High School & Academy is a Roman Catholic, co-educational school from 7 – 12, under the purview of the Archdiocese of Detroit, in Allen Park, Michigan. Founded in October 1960, Cabrini High School & Academy has a total enrollment of 271 students.

Goal: The Guidance Counselor supports students’ holistic development in mind, body, and spirit by focusing on academic, personal, and developmental counseling. This role entails collaborating with students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to foster overall student well-being by delivering comprehensive guidance services.
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Principal of Cabrini High School & Academy
Essential Functions & Duties
- Monitor student progress through electronic data systems (FACTS)
- Provide advocacy for students.
- Develop and maintain student educational plans and scheduling.
- Ability to coordinate and administer AP, preACT/ACT, preSAT/SAT, and PST testing annually; maintain testing data.
- Interpret placement test results and use multiple data points for advisement.
- Counsel students on academic programs and provide crisis intervention and referral services as appropriate.
- Develop and deliver parent programming and follow-up.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Preferred master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling and a Michigan School Counselor Endorsement (NT) or a valid Michigan School Counselor License (SCL).
- A State of Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively with administration, teachers, staff, students, and parents in the ongoing task of providing education for all students.
- Experience working in a secondary counseling position.
