The Newman Student Worker position is a privileged position by UIC students (undergraduate or graduate). While it isn’t required that the Student Workers be Catholic, they must represent both the Catholic faith and the Newman Center’s mission by helping create an atmosphere of hospitality and respect for anyone who walks into our space.
Responsibilities
- Welcome any Newman Center visitors and answer any of their questions.
- Complete the Newman Center’s closing duty checklist, including cleaning, emptying trash cans, and locking the doors.
- Perform any administrative tasks given by the Newman Staff.
- Help maintain security of the Newman Center by responding to and reporting any suspicious or inappropriate activity.
Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled UIC student (undergraduate or graduate).
- Must be over the age of 18.
- Must be responsible and punctual.
- Must be courteous, respectful, and friendly.
- Must be diligent and willing to complete tasks thoroughly and completely.
- Responsibilities listed are not limited to other duties assigned.

This position has a salary of $16.20 per hour. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
