REGIONAL BOOKKEEPER

POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to provide bookkeeping services for the share financial team for parishes and/or schools.

DESCRIPTION OF LEVELS:

The Bookkeeper I performs more routine bookkeeping functions under the direct supervision of a finance director.

LIST OF POSSIBLE JOB DUTIES:

Assures the development and maintenance of a financial bookkeeping system for the parish or school. This is accomplished by maintaining accurate and current accounts payable and receivable ledgers and review all documents to ensure they follow Diocese policies.

Assures the maintenance of all banking accounts. This is accomplished by processing all check requests and assuring there is proper authorization for expenditures in all program and operating accounts.

Coordinates volunteers for money-counting and record-keeping. This is accomplished by recruiting, screening, training, supporting, and overseeing the work of volunteers for these tasks. In addition, transports funds to regional counting facility.

Provides bookkeeping services and advice for those who direct the various fund-raising efforts for the parish or school, including the CMA and special collections.

Maintains a level of expertise in the accounting/bookkeeping profession. This is accomplished by participating in diocesan-sponsored training, attendance at workshops and classes, and/or membership in local organizations.

Assures all services companies for parish, school and cemeteries have all required COI, HHIIA and W-9’s. Maintains all records for audits.

Coordinates all CASE training for parishes and school and maintains spreadsheets. Provide documentation necessary to Director for audits.

Maintains online giving websites and handles monthly deposit entries and reports.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community. (Sometimes this requirement may be satisfied by a person who has knowledge of and is willing to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church.)

Work experience establishing and maintaining bookkeeping systems consistent with the Diocesan guidelines is required.

Ability to produce accurate and current parish/school financial data as requested by the pastor, principal or business manager.

7. Associate’s degree in accounting. (Some business college training may also be required.)

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
